Needing money for her seven-year-old daughter Chelsea's pending heart surgery, Perri Hardin signs on to caddie for the pro golf tour. Her first day, she encounters ex-husband Beau St. Cyr. Perri hasn't seen Beau for eight years, since his grandfather, Braden, bribed her to end the marriage because of social differences and his belief that Perri interfered with Beau's game. Secretly pregnant and believing that Beau instigated the bribe, Perri took the money, which has long since been depleted by Chelsea's medical bills. Her great-grandmother Wahoney (Ma Wah Taise) was a doll keeper who died at the age of 108 in 1909. Believing the Delawares' old world to have slipped away, Wahoney asked that her dolls be buried with her. Unlike her great-grandmother, however, Perry feels that the abiding force of traditional Delaware culture has returned to her, time and again, throughout her long life. In an effort to connect to her Native past, she has revived the dollmaking craft.
